Many healthcare facilities in the U.S. are facing critical challenges related to staff duress. In medical environments, healthcare workers often encounter urgent situations where they need immediate assistance. In the past, they had to rely on phone calls or shouting to get attention — methods that were slow, unreliable, and often increased the risk of harm during emergencies.
To address this issue, one of our customers collaborated with us to design a Duress Badge specifically tailored to the needs of hospitals. This lightweight badge can be worn on the chest, keeping it easily accessible to healthcare workers at all times.
Equipped with an emergency button, the badge allows staff to instantly trigger an alert in case of an emergency. When the button is pressed, the badge transmits the emergency signal to our MK110 gateway. The system then notifies the security team and displays the exact location of the staff member in distress, enabling a rapid response and immediate assistance.
This solution greatly enhances personal safety for healthcare staffs and helps ensure timely intervention during critical situations.
Duress Badge is a very compact and portable device, designed with a textured emergency button that allows staff to quickly locate and press it even in urgent situations. Powered by a small button cell battery, it can operate for five years (theoretical calculation; actual lifespan may vary due to environmental factors or parameter changes).
