In our daily life, we may encounter numerous situations to visit places with complex layouts, like shopping malls, hospitals or large churches as well. In such cases, traditional physical maps may lack accuracy as they could only give brief directions to visitors. That is where IoT navigation solutions step in. With easy installation, visitors could replace a paper map by using a mobile application to achieve accurate navigation without effort.
A church in Germany has struggled with navigation challenges for a long time. This church not only occupies a large area, but also boasts multiple functional areas with an aim to meet various needs. These include but not limited to chapels for believers to conduct prayer activities and large meeting rooms for people gatherings. Additionally, to create an overall harmonious visual effect, the architectural style of this church is highly consistent, which poses great difficulties in distinguishing specific locations.
Visitors, especially those who are coming to this church for the first time, would feel confused finding a specific destination with just a simple paper map. They usually find themselves at a loss status, spending large amounts of time searching their intended locations. The absence of a clear direction will lead to wasted time and dissatisfied experiences. In such circumstances, seeking help from nearby workers might be the most appropriate method, but the reality shows that these personnel may not always be available to give immediate guidance. Therefore, implementing a more automatic wayfinding system is of great importance.
Based on the previous installation of public LoRaWAN® gateways, Bluetooth® to LoRaWAN® bridges have been strategically installed to shape a paperless navigation solution. This bridge is supposed to get nearby Bluetooth signals. Once visitors walk within the proximity range, these bridges, acting as Bluetooth scanners, could capture Bluetooth signals sent from their smart devices. Then, these bridges transmit the data to a network server via Wi-Fi or cellular through nearby public LoRaWAN® gateways. After analyzing the data, the network server will push relevant information to the application server according to the various RSSI. This contributes to a clear presentation of the current location and further navigation guidance on the application of visitors’ smart devices.
To achieve comprehensive navigation, both indoor and outdoor Bluetooth bridges have been installed. At every main entrance and strategic location, Bluetooth bridges help to map the whole church, and could also guide a series of clear directions, offering easy and quick routes based on the current positions. By leveraging IoT technology, the church transformed the whole navigation system into a more efficient and user-friendly one. Such a solution not only offers clear and paperless navigation routes for visitors with high accuracy, but also greatly enhances the overall visitor satisfaction and operational efficiency.
LW003-B is an indoor Bridge aiming to connect Bluetooth beacons and LoRaWAN gateways. This device is capable of scanning BLE data and efficiently transmitting it to a server via LoRaWAN® gateway. Ideal for scenarios like indoor positioning and environmental monitoring.
LW003 Ultra Solar Charging Bridge is an outdoor BLE-to-LoRaWAN gateway. Equipped with a high-efficiency solar panel, LW003 Ultra could achieve self-sufficiency. Its robust metal shell boasts IP67 waterproofing and strong anti-interference performance makes it ideal for asset tracking, staff safety ensuring, environmental monitoring, and more.
